Fleeing from Cylon tyranny, the last battlestar, Galactica, leads a rag-tag fugitive fleet on a lonely quest... for a better comic.

Ah, So if you read the originally planned issue, the Continuity Alarm would be making Extra Payment this week, wouldn’t it?
And the Revived Series of Battlestar Galactica was just ‘Terminator In Space’ was it?

Why would you also decide to make a comic that is 99.9% Normal, and then for ONE Panel, it turns 3D?
I can understand it, if half the comic is in 3D, but just ONE Panel!?

Speaking of Battlestar Galactica, I recall from your Bloopers video that Southland Tales reminded you of Battlestar.
May I ask, how so?

A Stutter in Nimue too? More and more hints to the Entity…or that could be a Red Herring, couldn’t it?

Nice Review though.
Looking forward to seeing more from you, Linkara! ;3

Wow Linkara you got this one up early (or at least to my perception you have)

Not seen much Battlestar Galactica, just the movie version of the first few episodes, one random episode and the remake series.

And my first thought when we saw Count Iblis in the TIME 4 BACKSTORY segment my first thought was "Hey, isn't that Stead from the Avengers?", I knew he did the narration in the series but I didn't know about this or doing the voice of the Imperious Leader.

I am tempted to watch the old series. I am a bit of a fan of the Reboot Series myself and I admit... the finale was not as good as it could have been. Marville number 5.... Lords of Kobol help us indeed.

well i am glad you chose to change the plan rather than go straight up into a comic without anyone knowing. probably was more than a bit off putting knowing how far ahed you tend to plan.

never liked the revised series. i could never help but feel the violently exaggerrated the robot android peoples in many ways. i was a lot younger and it set me off when we see, first few minutes, that android woman murder a baby for no reason, and later show her as supposedly comassionate or some shit.... which makes no sense as killing a baby near his parents only brings horror and dread into them moments before disintegration...... yeah.
not to mention i was never sold on the android cylon being, well, that superior to humans. i do not care if you are as strong as a bear, you will be torn apart by gun fire either way. not to mention they were made of soem kinda orgnic tissue like material and could be drowned, so it makes no sense how they could be that strong to begin with. super strength in an era where there is high tech weaponry is kinda useless if you do not buffery it with some kinda natural shielding or some regenerative factor somewhere.

that and it always seem every time we have a erminator factor coming up somewhere in scifi they always ignore the fact that actually creating these super machines would consume vast amounts of resources. and while a rogue ai would not worry about money, it would quickly run out of the proper materials it needs to contstruction of more pwoerful machines or thing like microchips. while it make more sense in the original setting shown in the first battlestar, them being created and such, ion the second no one is showing where the hell these robots get the required materials. especially with the androids, cause that iw probably even MORE expensive to create.

.......why is it that the Mass Effect series more often has better concept than all fo this. why can the Geth create more things more quickly and efficiently? because they are composite beings that network themselves to share experiences. where do they get theri resources? they mine them from asteroids.
best of all they are actually logical and sometimes unknowingly emotional AI. they do not want to risk their existence by antagonizing organic species, nor do they believe they have the authority, as such a young race, to just say they should exterminate all organic life, and they don't want to because they remember, back when they were at risk fo destruction, some of the aliens they called CREATORS sacraficed their lives to protect them.

......the would be giving those cylons the middle finger all the way, especially the revised version, if it wasn't for the fact that they only have three fings so their middle finger acts as the index finger.

One of the ships destroyed was the Rising Star, which was a rather important ship in the original series. It was an R&R vessel where Starbuck lost many credits in the casino.

I'm pretty sure the Temporal Overdrive didn't actually send them back in time, but that they ignored the received signal in favor of their own explanation as to the 13th Tribe. Which will be all for nothing.

By the way Lewis, I finished my text review of the series if you still want the issues. We discussed it over email a while back while I was in the middle of my review series but we've both been busy since.

Congratulations on having not-sequel rewiew, Linkara! It was more intertaning then ASBAR and TCWK and excuse me for not putting much faith in Marvile.

Great episode, Linkara. Never watched the show, but I still enjoyed the episode.

And the ending of the story bit literally made me say "Oh $#!+". I think Nimue's turning into the love-child of GLaDOS and the Hal 9000.

Can't wait to see where it's heading.

I know there's a lot of backstory to cover, but I think we could have used the continuity alarm on this one. No offense, but constantly stopping the review to talk about the show got kind of dull after a while.

And JESUS CHRIST, I'm freaking TERRIFIED!

Holy crap, John Steed is the Devil?! No wonder he was able to do so many cool things and seduce beautiful women.

Ahh, Galactica 1980. The show that said "Make an episode about self-entitled brats playing a futuristic game of baseball." Thank God I wasn't around for the initial airing.

The use of time-slang is slightly confusing. I understand yahren is year, and I'm guessing 'centon' is...days? But what is 'centaur' supposed to be? Months? If so, why? [I don't know the show that well beyond the basics]

Hey! 'Space Mutiny' footage! ;) [And *yes*, I KNOW it's actually the other way 'round]

Uh, I'm preeeetty sure that back when the T-rex roamed the earth (Jura? Crita? Whatever), Africa did not look anything like Africa does today, which is clearly shown in the comic. So if they DID go back in time, or this is pre-historic earth, then they got the continents wrong.

So far the storyline with what is happening to Nimue is off to a good start.

People have speculated that Missing Number (The Entity) might be affecting her actions or influencing her and the studdering could be a hint of that.

Anyway good review but the thing I'm looking forward more to seeing is Marville...BREAK OUT THE BOOZE!

When you were talking about the cover art, and how Rob drew the robot better then the humans, makes me wonder if he worked on something containing nothing but robots, and that that might be good. Only to the degree of his art work, that is. To the search engines.

Also, Nimue is making me pee my pants, but I'm loving this more and more every week.

I tried looking at that one panel with my 3D glasses, and it does work, sort of. If you tilt your head to the left the effect works, but all it does it make the Entire panel go back. So if the 3D was intentional, they screwed it up twice, first for having the 3D in the wrong direction, and second for pushing the entire panel back instead of showing earth in front of the sun or something.

I am disappointed that you did not bring out the "Mother F*ucking T-Rex" song from Nostalgia Critic. It would have been perfect for that moment.

Cool episode. I've never actually seen the original series, but it looked like it had some cool stuff. It would have been cool to have the "Imperious Leader" in the reboot, but I actually really love the reboot despite the fact they made some mistakes. I know people complain about it, but for me the 2004 reboot and Star Trek are my favorite sci-fi shows. The stuff with Nimue looks cool. Totally creepy at the end.

Ah, I’m actually old enough to remember Battlestar Galactica’s first run. I don’t remember it well from then. I was about six when it was on, but I have seen it since.

I’m glad you discussed the cover, even though you didn’t have the physical comic. Maybe its because it’s the only Liefeld art in the piece. I’ve never understood why you had a rule about not discussing the cover if you didn’t have a physical single-issue of the comic. I understand why you wouldn’t discuss it if it had foil or gates or another printing gimmick, but for basic artwork, I didn’t get it. Your show, your rules. But I hope this means you’re changing your rules.

“Centaur” should count as a “Poor literacy is Kewl” moment, or more to the point: “Poor literacy is possible even with fictional terminology.” It’s should be “centar.” Considering the Greek mythological influence in so many names of planets and people, that’s not only wrong but could cause needless confusion.

Also, so the Seraph is named “John?” Jack is another name for John. The God of Marville may be a Seraph.

Totally agree about Lucifer needing to be in the newer series. I thought he would be a good step from centurions towards the human-like ones. Even if it was a step that was then taken back to go in the biological direction. (PS Who knew that Lucifer was Orac all along? ;-) )

To be fair about Apollo taking command, original Battlestar titles like Sire/Siress and Baltar’s own “Count” suggested there were aristocratic elements to this culture that might make the son following the father seem more natural to them. Another bit of Star Wars influence.

I’ll say this for Gaius Baltar. His end place was weird, but I loved the early arrogant scientist who knew he was guilty and hiding it.

Mentioning the costume changes reminded me that the thing that most bothered me about the new series from the beginning was the design. Having costumes look like normal modern clothing felt so unrealistic to me. Having them look strange (or maybe utilitarian and simple) would’ve made it more believable. (Speaking English is a technical absurdity but a concession to practicality, but wearing neckties? Unforced error.) It was such a distraction for me, I actually liked the end just because the whole spiritually influenced repeating cycles made it more believable (if still weird) that fashion would repeat.

All in all, good job.

Another great episode! I love the sideline snarks ("I call it Mr. Coffee", etc). :D

Poor Nimue - she just can't seem to catch a break... although I was half-expecting her to protest having Pollo on board. I also thought that in response to Linkara's comment of, "No, of course not," she was going to reply: "... liar."

Can't wait to see where this goes!

If the show is as bad as stupid show then i'm not looking forward to seeing it on netflix. Yes all three shows are still on netflix.
I forget about this series. It's mother FN t-rex! Licensee been done better by dynamite. Not that those books haven't had it's moments of badness.

I have not seen the series, so it is pure speculation, but could the "did they bring sorcerers with them?" thing be a variant of the trope of a villain reacting to failure with a rant akin to "How did we fail? Did they stop us with magic fairies or are you just incompetent?" (IE. their forces should have been stopped only by the impossible and the failure is disappointing) I've seen it used in some places, including asking the failing underling if the heroes had sorcerers. Could be wrong, though, or missing that you knew this and was just joking. My deep apologies if that is the case. ^_^'

On the note of the Tyrannosaurus or Allosaurus; Wouldn't the Moonlanding signal have moved at less-than-or-equal-to lightspeed and thus be thousands of years old when it reached them? They mention needing thousands of yahren without the temporal overdrive, so it would appear so. In this case, they would be in the far far future, which may explain the modern continents (continental drift being much too slow to change significantly if it has only been thousands of years) with the inexplicable Tyrannosaurus Rex (presumably the next step of the plan to make twin clones of Hitler). Of course, I could be way off here too, but I just wanted to mention it. : )

A great episode regardless of the timescale, though I am getting worried about Nimue's mental health. Eep. ._.

Reviewed the entire series. Linkara is in for a GALAXY of pain. And yes, starting with the first mini was the right idea.

Also, somebody mentioned the constant backstory usage. Trust me, it matters a lot until the story decides to ignore it, like the moon landing video being forgotten.

Chris-the-German said...

so Linkara, here's the obvious question: what are your problems with the revised BG-series? I watched the 3 hour mini-series and about 3 episodes, and so far it's a pretty solid series. What's your deal with it?

Leor said...

Excellent review Lewis! I remember watching the original "Battlestar" when I was a kid, but I don't think I've ever rewatched the original as an adult. I should probably go and rewatch it one of these days. It's a shame that "Battlestar" got only one "real" season before being cancelled to cut costs.

I know that the original "Battlestar" was as much a religious allegory as it was a straightforward Space Opera, and the 2004 "Battlestar" series was also full of religious imagery. I didn't remember Iblis or the angels from the first series, but that does explain why the "angels" that guided Baltar, Caprica Six and others were present in the 2004 series: it was an element of the original show that the creators wanted to include.

As for what Baltar did all day, sitting on his throne, with no books or video monitors, I imagine he either had a cybernetic interface that let him download books, music and movies directly into his brain, or he ordered a group of Cylons to stage elaborate plays for him when he was bored. I can just imagine Lucifer going to one of the lower ranking areas of the Basestar and ordering some Cylon Centurions to form a Greek Chorus for the latest drama (or else). :)

Linkara, I don't think Nimue is herself any more. I think she's been possessed by MissingNo. You might want to check in on Comicron One yourself, because Pollo might need the backup.

As for the comic itself, the art was horrible: they turned Liefeld into a combination of Cable and Lynch from Gen13, they barely got the cast's likenesses right before the time skip, and there were a gazillion printing errors that made the comic painful to read (at least on a monitor). The time skip made no sense, the narrative does not flow properly (too many flashbacks that are narrated, too much telling rather than showing, too much exposition in some places, not enough in others) and it doesn't seem like they made even the slightest effort to bring new readers up to speed on what "Battlestar Galactica" was about. Saying that someone is "a better artist than Rob Liefeld" is damning with faint praise.

Unknown said...

It's good to see Linkara is making preparations and getting ready. Good to see he's being prepared. And to be honest, it fits well with what ought to be a central theme to his character: that NO idea or possibility should be ludicrous to him. After everything he's seen, no idea should seem impossible. If 90's Kid was to rush in and say that Nicktoons had landed in Washington D.C and were demanding everyone destroy all Cartoon Network memorabilia, he'd just have to grab his spellbook and say "Yep, must be Tuesday" and choke that down, because considering everything ELSE he's seen, that's not outside the realm of possibility!

Which brings me to a point you made earlier, sometime last year. That the Gunslinger couldn't have just TOLD Linkara why he needed the gun because it would have sounded ridiculous.

...Linkara has a magic gun. That alone would mean he's not entirely unexperienced in knowing there's more to Life than what you think. Furthermore, he has a robot, an advanced A.I as a security system, and the Gunslinger found out he fought off Lord Vyce, an interdimensional conqueror. I THINK Linkara would have believed Jeris if he'd just said "Look, I need that magic gun to save my homeworld in another dimension, so just hand the damn thing over right now". But as Linkara said, that's what happens when you don't EXPLAIN yourself.

Also, one other thing. Yes. He can use other people's guns. What is his plan, though? That one day he'll find a magic rocket launcher that's good enough to defeat an ENTIRE PLANET'S ARMY run by a tyrannical government with advanced technology? He'd get picked off in a few minutes, no matter how nice a magic gun he had, unless he had SOME kind of backup. Even if he had two in his hand at a time, he's not gonna be able to stop a hellfire missile or long-distance sniper fire or the like from getting to him. It would have been far easier to just go get help again from other dimensions and this time remember to provide them with support so they can breathe next time.

Even if it wasn't the comic you wanted, it was still interesting to see your opinions on Battlestar Galactica; the original not the remake. I treally was sort of trying it's own thing in a period when those types of sci-fi was popular but unfortunately they didn't have the money of a Lucas to see it through I suppose. But yeah, Liefeld's art and his influence was really there this time around..and it really showed.

And Nimue is just getting scary.

I liked the rebooted series though I really didn't get into it until the second season. The finale was okay to me. The first hour was epic while the second hour was okay though.

If you haven't been asked already, what did you think of the finale to the reboot series?

Argh! This entire puzzle thing is stressing me out, but (seeing that I am a mental masochist) it isn't a bad thing. My only questions in regards to that is "are the random garbled messages related to the puzzle in any way?" and "is it related to the Gunslinger in some fashion (y'know as in he accidentally brought someone along with him)?". However, since you are the game master, Mr. Lovhaug, feel free to ignore them if you feel that the answers would give too much information away.

Nimue is kind of worrying me, especially now that she can't remember what she is saying. Hang on a second, wouldn't Dr. Linksano be able to help Pollo and Linkara figure out what is wrong with her?

Hey look! The ads are visible for me now! Several weeks after disabling my adblock! I dunno what changed, but at least Linkara should get his due revenue now, which I'm glad for. :)

...Too bad they keep showing the same ad OVER AND OVER. X(

Anyway: this episode brought a lot of nostalgia for me, for I saw the original BG series as a kid. I couldn't tell how poor it was next to say, Star Wars, but then I was a kid. I just knew I liked the characters. Yes, even the robot dog. And the episode with Iblis was really scary! Thanks for reviewing this, Lewis.

As for the Nimue storyline... I must say I don't find it too interesting. Mainly because we've seen Evil AIs before. Also it seems to have no cause. Give us some clues about it at the least.
Still, I have faith in you (and your helpers) so I trust it'll improve.

Can't wait to see if Linkara gets another meltdown with the "logics" of Marville next episode! XD

The Comic: Art work aside, it does seem interesting... Certainly better than 1980 was.

Your Arc: This... Is... NOT... Good...

Other: I'm also a fan of the older show. Watched the first season of the new show as it aired and was not impressed. Baltar was always my favourite from the original show and while I don't fault Callis for his work, I do fault the fact that he was NOT the genius he was said to be. I became convinced that the only reason he got 3 (Colonial equivalents) of the Noble prize was because of his head and I don't mean the one on top of his shoulders.

Once again I'm posting this for all of you who don't want to go blind reading through all the static effects on the Annonymous posted comment:

"The machine mother watches over you for now.
Not the one from Kamandi at Earth's End who is called Mother Machine.

Sooner or later you will be panting and sweating as you run
through her corridors.

After all how ̃can you challenge her?"

I know what this means, and while I'm not going to spoil it for those that don't get the reference, I'm just gonna say that this isn't Linkara posting this comment as an ARG. He didn't do it during the Entity arc and he's not doing it now. It's just too obvious, the poem refered to Missingno yes but it was subtle about it. This is a flat out reference to a late nineties Action-RPG which featured a crazy AI which was referred to as Machine Mother that everyone who played through would get instantly, I know I did. So yeah, I'm calling this one a hoax ARG, it doesn't reveal clues about the storyline it's just an overzealous fan. Still nice job whoever you are, you sure had me fooled initially.

P.S. I'd like to pre-emptively call Linkara a magnificent bastard for being able to trick me into thinking it was fake, just on the off chance that this really was him posting the comment.

I would bet on this being the far future rather than the prehistoric past, If they received a radio transmission from Earth's moon while they were in another Galaxy???

Well according to Yahoo answers the closest Galaxy to our own Milkyway is Andromeda which is 2.5 million light years away and radio transmissions travel at sublight speed. It's a bit like Trelain in Star Trek TOS spying on the Earth 300 years in the past; they weren't hearing that transmission live.

Also I'm pretty sure they didn't have sorcerers, and that was a figure of speech. "Damn are they using magic or something?"

This comic series got off to a rocky start but I'm kinda interested in seeing how it develops I might have to check it out... I do remember the hype when it was first starting up but I'd only seen about 6 episode of BSG original then so I wasn't too interested.

Hey Linkara, loved the review,my thoughts on story line so far I think that Nimue is being hacked by a outside force, is there any safety protocols where you can shut her down ?

rutana said...

Oh I love the anonymous messages within the comments x3

So far, for me, everything points to the Entity... glitches and all along... but somehow I find it too obvious to be true XD
I'm so curious to find out more ^.^

Also, I'm really interested in the old Battlestar Galactica series now... if there wouldn't be 7 1/2 Doctors waiting for me to watch them... XD

Linkara run and don't stop Nimue is not Nimue she hacked by another being and i pray its not whom many think it is.
You must find the hacker Linkara He can help you, find the Spoony One he is your only hope.

You know, I always prefer the remake series because of its grim tone, complex characterization and general deconstruction of space opera/ragtag fleet on the run concept. Also, the remake series actually reached its ending, unlike the classic series.

Liefeld and Galactica (classic only) do not mix. Granted, this was the cover, but still it does have the 90s artwork. None of the characters remotely look like their live-action counterparts. You know what's the sad part? I still would prefer to read this instead of watching Galactica 1980.

I'm actually glad to see you starting at the first of Maximum Press's Galactica comics. Are you going to do other Galactica comics as well?

Uh oh, things are not looking good regarding Nimue . . .

Next episode: More of the horror known as Marville . . . Lords of Kobol, Cylon God, and any other deity help us all . . .

I remember loving the original series when I was little. Think I used to watch re-runs of it alongside Buck Rogers.

This comic was weird. I actually remember, vaguely, most of the episodes your referenced.

I also remember being confused when I was little because Starbuck is also Faceman from the A-Team. (another show I grew up watching a ton of, actually got to sit in the A-Team van once at a car show).

Though I know in one of the openings for A-Team they have a Cylon walk by Face and he's just sort of, 'wait what?'

Seeing this how makes me miss it... and even more wish Blake 7 was easier to watch in the US.

Galactica 1980 was just.... weird.

Umm... his 'Did Adama bring sorcerers,' comment was probably just sarcasm. Like that comment in the review of "Battle for Bludhaven," about how the "Justice League riding Magical Horses couldn't break in," was probably not indicitive of their belief that the Justice League would ACTUALLY ride in on magical horses to stop them... Actually, Wonder Woman might, but you know what I mean.

Good episode like always. When you opened the show talking about doing another different comic I was thinking you were going to review the BG comic I donated to you. the choice was good and great that it wasn't a continuation of other series that you've reviewed. the comic lie you said is ok the art has some good panels, but when it gets bad it got real bad.

Tell next week I'll have to be ready for the Marville review, and play the Marville the drinking game. But on the bright side from that after #5 only 2 more to go.

I have so been looking forward to this - if I could have picked a comic for AT4W, it would have been a classic Battlestar Galactica one. I was - and still am - a huge fan of the show. I know it has its faults, I know its a bit cheesy by today's standards, but there's a lot to like about it, too. I have to admit I was a little worried about how harsh you'd be on the show itself, so the first thing I want to say is, thanks for giving it the respect it deserves.

I love that, for once, I really know the source material well, and picked up on some things (like the 'planet Starbuck' line) moments before they were mentioned. I've collected a lot of stuff related to the show, including novels that continue the story... but never any comics. I don't think they were ever available here so it was nice to see that, well, I'm not missing much.

I especially enjoyed the 'time for backstory' segment - perfect! In one of the novelizations, they describe what Apollo saw in the crashed ship. It actually spoiled it for me - I'd built the mystery up so much in my imagination, that any explanation was going to be a disappointment, much less the unimaginative one in the book. Another thing that really stood out to me in the review - the Baltar and Iblis voices. You really nailed it.

As for the light-beings, I've seen them referred to as Seraphs frequently in fandom and fan-fiction, so possibly someone involved in the show has called them that at some point - I'd like to think it came from a source closer to canon than this comic.

Leor, the image of a Cylon Greek Chorus had me in stitches. Someone at a con actually asked John Colicos what Baltar does all day on that throne when his back's to the camera. His response - "Well, it's perfectly obvious. He reads Marvel comics all day long."

Good question, Tracey.
It is due to the fact that the visual glitches provided by Zalgo text generators are an appropriate representation of the glitches caused by... the being influencing the storyline via NIMUE.

We had the same effects when the original "Entity" storyline happened: The Entity broke the fourth wall and left "zalgo"-esque looking comments.

I hope I could satisfy your curiousity.

Also: I called the very last line of the storyline - probably because I have obviously done my research now.

If you thought issue #1's cover was bad wait until the next issue. It's just an extreme close-up of a Cylon, like it's going to pop out of the comic and eat you.

I'm not a major fan of battle star galatica,so I can't nitpick about the comic itself.
I think that Nimue is the Mother being referred in the poem that is being posted . Also, Pollo is right about how Linkara tossed that tech like that.
I don't want Jaeris's computer to be used to help solve Nimue's problem. Like linking together in a scan of some kind. If Entity Lite decides to be a body hopper than We're going to be screwed.
Lewis, You're very good at humanizing the robots. I'm genuinely angry that Entity lite is turning Nimue into ...this. I got a feeling that it's going to get worse.
I'm hoping that Nimue rebels whatever it is taking her over long enough to tell Linkara and Company something useful.

I just wanted to say that the delivery on Nimue's final line is fantastic. I called the line a full five or ten seconds in advance and it was still creepy.

The Fallout Boy said...

Since you are a Troper, Lewis, here's a bit of Fridge Logic for you:

after his run-ins with Mechakara, Holokara AND Robo-Vyce, wouldn't Linkara at this point be Genre Savvy enough to know when something is wrong with one of his machines? He keeps talking to Niume like it was a simple gadget instead of a sentient being and he does the bone-headed mistake of leaving Pollo all alone with the clearly psychotic computer.

At this point, wouldn't Linkara know any better? Wouldn't be more in-character for him to talk to Nimue as if she were a human and try to figure out what's wrong with her, as well as cutting Nimue's link to Comicron One?

As an aside, what's with all this Entity talk? Are you telling me it's just a coincidence that Nimue went psycho right after the Gunslinger and his backstory was introduced? It's obvious to me that the overlords of the Gunslinger's home dimension (who also happen to be the people that the Executor answers to, and by proxy the true masterminds behind the events of "To Boldly Flee") are the ones who tampered with Nimue and made her go crazy.

Also, the new "Battlestar Galatica" show (ie. the more popular and sucessful one, and the one most people think about when they hear the words "Battlestar Galactica") is about man-made robots who go apeshit and turn against humanity. And Linkara is reviewing a "Battlestar Galactica" comic...right at the time when Nimue, a sentient man-made computer, is going apeshit and turning against Linkara. Again, that can't be a coincidence

aw man I've been looking forward to this review for weeks since Linkara announced he'd be reviewing it!! I think I'm among the minority here in that I haven't watched any classic BSG (yet) but I've seen the revived series and enjoyed it mostly, so it was interesting hearing Linkara talk about various things in the classic series -- most of which I didn't know about, like Lucifer and the 'seraphs'. I think it would have been neat if more classic series stuff was included in the revival, although I guess Ronald Moore wanted to make it grimdark hard scifi...at least until the ending, where hard scifi pretty much went out the window from what I recall. :P don't get me wrong, revived BSG is mostly pretty good and worth watching, it just...well, like Linkara said in an earlier comment here, it has its ups and downs.

okay anyways. so that storyline bit!!! wow. I've been enjoying AT4W's story arcs pretty much since I began watching it and I absolutely love when the suspense gets built more slowly like this, and I also love the ARG-style comments here!! the fun is in trying to judge whether they're real and intentional or just people screwing around :P I'd hazard a guess that that earlier one about the mother machine was a fan-made one because of the fairly blatant SHODAN reference (although if Nimue's virus-thing turns out to be our favorite AI with delusions of divinity, or something similar, that would probably be pretty cool).

the Entity-style poems are harder to judge, but I wouldn't be surprised if those were also fan-made. I remember Linkara saying he wouldn't bring the Entity back unless he had a REALLY good idea, and it's too early to be sure, so I guess I'm remaining skeptical for now. it could also be because I don't exactly WANT the Entity to be the cause of this?? don't get me wrong, I did enjoy the Entity as a villain (even if the reveal of it being MissingNo. was pretty cheesy imo) but I think it would be cooler and subvert everyone's expectations if it turns out to be a completely new villain that we haven't seen before. or, alternatively, it could be my personal hoped-for-yet-total-longshot theory, which is that it's Mechakara, back from the dead! like I said, it's too early to tell, so why not just wildly theorize. (plot twist: it's Bear. BEEEEAAAARRRR!!!)

also, Linkara, if you don't mind, I actually have two questions for you!! one: what's the book-looking thing on the back shelf next to the old Pollo body? I'm pretty sure it's not the Absent Grimoire because it looks like THAT'S on the next shelf over, with all the teastained pages. and two: did you ever confirm the answer to that code in the Ravage 2099 review? or that anybody actually GOT the answer?? thanks!!!

okay enough rambling about storylines and tv shows out of me. thank you for the (as ever) fabulous and interesting review, Linkara, and I can't wait for next week!! the Marville reviews are always some of my favorites. :D

Please note that the voice of Lucifer on the original series was Jonathan Harris.

That's Jonathan "Dr. Smith from Lost In Space" Harris.

Which, with all due respect to the late Mr. Colicos, trumps Kor.

As for future Baltar & Lucifer, I'm seeing Cable and Fuji (from Stormwatch)

Had a crazy thought:

Those Merry Christmas screens made me re-watch every episode from last December.
And it ended with Harvey saying, he left all of his stuff back in the hotel room where he met the Nostalgia Critic aka The Ghost of Christmas Past.
Could this be connected to something Harvey left in his hotel room? Something he took along on his tour when he left before Halloween?

Might me longshot through.

But I have to say, Linkara: Everytime you come up with a new storyline, it really gets me excited with all the suspense, build-up and mystery. Something I want to accomplish as a writer myself in the future.

Listening to you synopsis of the BSG universe, I realized it would be pretty cool if someone did a full fledged critique of the show; especially the episodes that didn't work, and it began to show that the writers were making it up as they go.

I just now realize how good the opening theme is. Usually I skip that kind of thing when marathoning ANY series, but with AT4W it just helps me getting excited for the jokes and memes. Kudos to the artist... whose name I just forgot. Shame on me.
