What fantastic manga did Linkara review at Anime Midwest? ‎

This comic confused me... maybe it's because I don't know about the Fantastic Four or maybe it's because I'm not a gamer, but it was weird.

But good Tick reference.

Oh god this comic was bad. I don't even remember if I ever read this or not.
Other good universe cheats codes: Never get fat. Grow taller or smaller. You can probably just use the cheat codes get super powers.
You forget Hammer Time! :)
Doug was hilarious as was the whole review.

I wish I could have been there. I planned on it, but my work schedule and money flow kept me away. It looked like a fun time, though. Maybe next time. Also, keep pushing that DVD. I have to make sure I don't forget about buying it in a few weeks.

This isn't related to the video, but something Doctor Who-related for you.
Doctor Who fans on Facebook decided to honor Terry Nation, creator of the Daleks, August 8th, his birthday, will be "Dalek Day". Talk like Daleks, reference them, quote them, etc.
I know you don't have a Facebook, but I don't suppose just for the fun of it you'll do just that on that day.

When you mentioned MY little pony death I was hoping someone would shout "APPLEJACK'S PARENTS."

great show as always, and man this was not a good comic. during your question and Answer session when the question about movie to comic adaptions you forgot to mention the Superman 4 The Quest for Peace comic you had just acquired from me at animinneapolis. I hope you find the other 3 so you could review them, or maybe do a crossover with them with someone. Keep up the good work, and hope to see ya at Metacon.

Just one question, I am pretty sure you did this in your Guns and Sorcery Arc I am not quite sure, but have you ever thought of doing storyline segments in your live shows?

The comics' color scheme brought this to mind:

Very strange comic, but wonderful review.

Other cheat code ideas: unlimited funds, unlimited gas in your vehicle, unlocking new outfits...

=D

I screamed ,when you did the Moarte voice, but not out of fear. I'm just a crazy fan girl.

now if you excuse me, I need to seek professional help for having the weirdest obsession ever

Wait wait wait. Jonni, Sue, and Ben...

Asuka, Rei and Shinji.

Why did they replace the Fantastic Four with the cast of Evangelion?

Anonymous said...

It looked like Waspinator was on the cover behind The Fantastic Four.

Speaking of which, why exactly do you prefer "Beast Wars" over "Beast Machines"?

I personally think "Machines" was better than "Wars" and is my second favorite Transformers series behind "Animated".

Manga-Reed is the old guy who uses random slang without really understanding it?

...So what you're saying is, he's 90s kid in about 20 years.

My friends went to that convention you were at. Hope they saw you!

Also, are you interested in any suggestions for Longbox of the Damned? Because if you are, Scott Snyder has a couple more freaky comics outside of Severed. The entire Rotworld storyline, American Vampire, and his new miniseries called The Wake. Those could be cool to cover.

Jeff Jacobson said...

So The Thing in this comic is basically Benji Grimm from Fred and Barney meet the Thing.

Great show and I wished I could of made it to see it in person, just well con reg, parking and stuff is expensive for just one panel, so maybe someother con!

Unknown said...

Oh I so wish I could have gone to this! Was a lot closer than most of the other cons you attend.

I clapped during the Q&A when you answered the long box question, even though I was pretty sure I knew the answer. Is that weird?

That was a funny review.

I was confused at first by who was trolling during the theme song then you said it was Doug so it made sense.

I really HATE Grimm's Fairy Tales with a passion.

Breasts everywhere and a main character that is basically just like Holo-kara.

Right down to killing people who didn't listen to her because she doesn't respect other people's opinions on how to run their lives. "Do what I tell you to, otherwise I summon bears to rip your throats out."

Granted most of the people she met were assholes, but even they didn't deserve the horrible, HORRIBLE fates that they got.

I finally stopped reading right when she was proven wrong about nobody listening to her and is so stubborn that she won't accept it. Get this, the main character is told in this issue about a kid you did listen to her and toke her message to heart. While fighting Afghanistan, he managed to save a bunch of soldiers ala Ace Rimmer on the grenade in a show of extreme bravery and courage. This act also managed to indirectly inspire the other soldiers who saw his sacrifice and saved many more lives as a result. All she has to say on the matter is that since he died, he doesn't count.

I really HATE this BITCH.

I was tricked by the boobies on the cover and was treated to one of the most sadistic main characters. It doesn't help that they change the classic stories that they are re-telling so much to fit their idioctic morals. Bluebeard, Rumplestiltskin, and Goldilocks are some of the worst misfires in the book's run.

Linkara, I recommend you stay far away from this horrible comic. Unless you want something truly horrific for LONGBOX OF THE DAMNED. *thunder* HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

So you plan on reviewing Samurai Santa ,huh? This December oughta' be..."interesting"

Dalek Caan said...

Do you get a choice in the kind of Blip Player that the videos use? I so much prefer this "classic" style.

The style used now in most of your main videos have that annoying thing where if I try to move the cursor to a different point in the video (like even if I want to just go back 30secs to see something again) it takes me back to the first ad again which I have to watch all the way through. I find this really annoying.

As for the show itself, I feel as though you are getting much better at these, though sometimes I still find that the transition between prerecorded and live can be a bit awkward. I think you could better predict how certain pages will make the audiences react and you can put in more clear pauses for those reactions as appropriate. It might sound tough, since you aren't a professional comedian as such, but I do think it would help these performances.

My Bets for the thing heading to Earth via the Moon to be a Cyberman Invasion Fleet! Everyone, Turn off your 'International Electronics' Devices!

Reed Richards at 8:30 sort of looks like the Punisher in a way.
His quips seem to be him attempting to sound like the Smart-Mouthed Cool Fellow, like Han Solo or Ash from 'Evil Dead', but instead it just makes him look like an idiot.

Also, according to Reeds, the Creature pulls itself from another Universe, if it gets beaten up or wrecked? This Manga predicted the Plot of 'Bioshock Infinite'!

Awesome Review though, Linkara.
Looking forward to seeing more from you. ;3

Why did they think it would be a good idea to turn the Fantastic Four into a strange NGE ripoff? Does Marvel not know they would make for an awesome Sentai team XD ?!

Anonymous said...

Maybe Ben Grimm (however they called him) in this universe is an Asian albino...the most collectable kind of albino.

That's a Venture Brothers reference by the way...don't want everybody thinking I collect albinos.

The ClockWerk Critic said...

Pretty cool. Was actually there for it too, kept bringing up 'Tang' halfway through.

Also, a bit of a mistake. You seemed to confuse two characters 'Alicia Masters' and 'Agatha Harkness' with one another. Harkness was the witch while Alicia was the blind woman who dated The Thing. You basically pointed out Harkness as Masters, which really confused the crap out of me, as I was able to see the panels introducing them from the front row. Must've missed that during the script writing.

This was the best light (or lack of) in a live AT4W. You can actually see what's on the screen.

Moarte's voice must be murder on your throat.

"I am the Goddess of HELLFIRE!"

I call BS, where is the flaming crown!? I would take all of the Manga-verse to learn for this crap!

Linkara, "Ben-ya-meen" is the phonetic spelling of the Hebrew version of the name Benjamin (Though it should maybe be "Bin-ya-meen", but that's a minor detail). It also exists in Arabic. I don't know if this is applies in the Mangaverse, but in the main Marvel Universe Ben Grimm is Jewish. That may be why they call him that.

This was a great ep. Sooo much better than the last Live one (it had no annoying un-funny ppl in the background) but also it was concistantly funny. Great Job!

MIng said...

This is a lame comic. I mean, fusing Fantastic Four with Evangelion? That's a manga universe version of the Fantastic Four? Seriously, they can do better than that!

Anonymous said...

Does this Fantastic Four take place in the same Universe as the Manga Verse Spiderman?

Manga Reed Richards seems like the Writer's are trying to make him the 'Awesome Hero' who quips one liners, but instead it makes him look like, as said, he's trying to be "Hip With The Cool Kids"

Also, the Creature just gets itself from an Alternate Universe, if it gets too beat up? This Manga predicted the Plot to 'Bioshock: Infinite'.

I assume more Live Shows shall be popping up, since this is Con Season, right?

Still, Nice Review, Linkara.
Looking forward to seeing more from you.

Someone in my sculpture class made a clock that had all of the different times. Hammer time was the best time of the day.

Man the "Sequel Virus" is even affecting the Live Shows. Last time it was another Yugioh manga, now we have another one from Marvel's Mangaverse, I'm also hyped for the return of the Computer Whiz Kids. Which might hopefully make up for Moarte's absence

If you think this colouring was drab, you should see Fantastic Four: 1 2 3 4... some of the worst catfish colouring (http://www.bleedingcool.com/2013/02/23/comics-catfish-and-colour-oranges-are-not-the-only-fruit/) I have ever seen.

Come to think of it, you should review it. It's so bad.

"Seems that DC only knows how to kill characters these days"

Dude, you have no idea how much death is going on at Marvel now.
*COUGH*AvengersArena*COUGH*
*COUGH*RICK REMENDER*COUGH*
(Seriously Rick Remender made Cap's girlfriend shoot through the 10 year old throat of Cap's son and he fell into Acid! This is the writer who claims "The heroes need to lose something every arc"

Anonymous said...

Yeah, compare to the genocide that's currently going on over at Marvel, DC is a pretty peaceful place (despite there being freaking Civil War going on)

MARVEL - you care, we kill!

Also, Damian is coming back
sort of
he's getting his own mini-series, "Damian: Son of the Bat" set in an alternative universe

on a related note, Batman might be turning evil http://www.dccomics.com/sites/default/files/comic-covers/2013/07/FOREVER_EVIL_2_nu6utwlniu_.jpg

finally, I actually find the idea of having a Fantastic Four / Neon Genesis Evangelion merger rather appealing, alto I don't think Ben is a good fit for Shinji
Reed on the other hand is a PERFECT Gendo

Enjoy the blurry image of someone's fingers?

What the hell, Linkara?! I just wanted to watch your live show, how the hell did I wander onto a Japanese porno site?!

John R. Ellis said...

Mark Waid did a good job of proving what makes Reed cool is that even though he screwed up his best friend's live forever, he's spent the rest of his life making sure the entire world loves and aporeciates them for being awesome celebrity adventurers instead of seeing them as freaks.

I'm getting the feeling Mangaverse Reed isn't that cool. Call it a hunch.

I haven't seen "Beware the Batman" either ,but the commercials look very weird. I have no idea what's going up with these mutant people!! DX

(if you ever read this) About the censor bars: Adam Warren just finds it amusing. That's it. Most of the time it actually works (okay, I'm just basing my point of view in his Empowered series, so I might be wrong) but at times it ends up covering too much of a speech bubble.

Hobo Girl said...

glad you finally mentioned to the crowd that they may find there jokes funny but others may not due to everyone having a different sense of humor. I couldn't watch one of your live shows because of this woman who sounded like marzgirl kept chiming in making it hard to hear your jokes and I ended up watching a different video of yours.
