Welcome back, Longbox of the Damned! We've missed you. ^_^

Good start! Between this and Cinemassacre's Sequel-A-Thon 2, this Halloween month is going to be a lot of fun for me.

I never saw the first Crow movie nor realized it was originally a comic.

"The lowlives that killed her are already dead"? Insert Hokuto no Ken joke her.

SMAXZO said...

Dang it, I mean "here", not "her".

I friggin love The Crow both the movie and the comic. Also welcome back Moarte.

They're already dead.

Good stuff here, but now I can't help but wonder what an AT4W of Vol 1 of Fist of the North Star would look like. I imagine Linkara saying "By Diehards crotch!" at least once.

The Crow was a very moody comic, very specific in its emotions. I think that's why the sequels didn't work as well.

That was really good, Lewis! Last year I kinda skipped out on LOTD, only watching one or two episodes, but I think i'm gonna watch all of them this year.

I really hope Moarte makes an appearance in AT4W sometime soon. I could imagine how it would happen, with Moarte making an episode of LOTD, and Linkara walks in on him doing so and wondering who the hell he is.

welcome Back Moarte.
The Crow is my favorite live action movie. Maybe it's time I finally picked up the comics.

Welcome back, Moarte! Your children have missed you.

Very good choice to start with. I've unfortunately never read the comic, but I love the movie.

Can't wait to see what the rest of the month brings us!

Ooooooooh... I am SO glad I have a working computer again! And a fantastic return to you, Moarte! I see that it will be another great October! MUHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Ah, it's good to see this again.

I actually inherited The Crow trade paperback from my sister. She loved the movie.

I even own the soundtrack album, you can blame Rage Against the Machine for that.

Doresh said...

Funny. I just got the comic and was about to start reading it a few hours from now. Oh, Moarte, you're the kind of psychic I like :3

a true classic of the comic medium

James Faraci The Last Of The Americans said...

My Brother Chris had an original copy of this and it was more Dark & Gothic than Moarte made it out to be.

Anonymous said...

Might be useless to ask, but do you have an feelings on the 1994 movie?

Anonymous said...

I was excited for the new LOTD for over a month ,but when I saw the title I was like "NO WAY!" even though I've never read the comics and I'm too young to see the movie. And this first episode of Season 2 was pretty decent for the most part. Happy anniversary, Moarte MWHAHAHAHA!!!

Information:
The unknown life form that also showed up last year appears to be in the area again. This unit does not know what this being is, but it is curious to note that the molecular structure is similar to that of a human corpse. w̡̳̞e͏…..this unit has yet to confirm if this life form is a threat t̬͎͖͉̭ḫ̝͘͢r̤̠̗̙̘̩̬̰e҉̛̣̲̝̳̘̘͕̼a̳͞͝ṭ̶

Hurray! Long box of the damn is back!. I think I'll pass on looking up the original comic. As interesting as it sounds, I know it won't be that easy as find the movie.
As for the Anon at 6:33 pm, I think its interesting info. Like Nimue found the Worm King first and that its Corpse like.

M. L. Martin said...

Arianne--I think Nimue's just talking about Moarte, who's "neither living nor dead" and who goes back into hibernation ("100% failure") after Halloween, or 720 hours (30 days) from now.

Your children have missed you, Moarte!

This was awesome, was so excited to watch this before bed this morning.

I had forgotten this was a comic. I had a friend in high school who was really into the Crow and the stuff surrounding it, should have remembered since I thought she owned this, or something close.

I like the ambiguity of the color and marks on his face.

Lewis, you can tell you're more practiced this year, sounded awesome from the get go and kept it going.

Overall, this rocked.

Welcome back, father.

whats the song in the background? it fits perfectly!

Lewis Lovhaug said...

"whats the song in the background? it fits perfectly!"

That would be "Burn" by the Cure. ^_~

The reason it sounds so perfect is that it's from the soundtrack for the movie. In fact, it's playing when Eric puts on the makeup for the first time.

Have a suggestion for a Longbox episode. How much I've missed this series.

Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni. Has both a manga and anime adaptation (the manga version is much better).

Lazoor said...

You have indeed been away from your children for too long. We've missed you Moarte! And if your first selection is any indication, this promises to be a wonderful season for the Longbox!

Unknown said...

Great stuff as always sir, this makes me want to watch the movie again.
Thanks again sir.

Excellent review to welcome back Longox of the Damned. I too have missed this series. This makes me want to buy and read the comic because I like the film. Also Burn b The Cure is one of m favourite songs of theirs.

Anonymous said...

Um I think the Anon was talking about Moarte. Since it mentioned that the life form they speak of showed up last year. I'm pretty sure he/she was trying to do it in real time.

Anonymous said...

To add to the Higurashi comment mentioned above, there are 8 novels/arcs; Onikakushi-hen (one of the weakest chapters) -> Watanagashi-hen -> Tatagoroshi-hen -> Himatsubushi-hen (considered the worst -> Meakashi-hen (solution to 2nd arc, considered one of the better arcs) -> Tsumihoroboshi-hen (solution to Onikakushi-hen) -> Minagoroshi-hen (solution to Tatagoroshi-hen, considered one of the better arcs) -> Matsuribayashi-hen.

HAHHA... fantastic...
though you changed the opening sequence... its too....fast, I think last years was perfect, one of the best short opening sequences for a supermini ever... I think what I miss the most, is that opening pause. the music ponders for a second in the old one leaving just a black cloak in the background, and swings in to a grand reveal with smooth hand to hand timing with the rhythm of the music......
*wipes away drool*

this one isn't bad though...
ohh I always loved the crow, never gave the comic much thought (im a movie guy, not a comicguy...until recently)though I am dismayed that comixology doesn't seem to have the original comic. ill keep looking though.

I'm probably wrong, but I think it was established previously that they know each other.

Wow, it's good to see THE CROW back in print! I was a huge fan of the original BRANDON LEE movie and bought the soundtrack and later the TRDPBK.

I remember being disappointed by the book. The artwork was great but the story meandered quite a bit for me. James O'Barr gave us too many scenes where nothing happened as if he was demonstrating that he was a mixed media darling! I thought he was showing off before I learned that his motivation for creating the story was more therapeutic than artistic, so I forgave him very easily.

Twenty years later, I think it's still an important work, warts and all and in my opinion, the movie will remain a classic for many reasons: Brandon Lee's seminal and last performance, as a super-hero story and last but not least, as one of the best comic book adaptations for film!
